Some Interesting Bits & Pieces.

Hi everyone. Things here at the house are going well. The english teaching is
coming along well, and the students are showing good progress. More importantly, developing a good attitude to learning, as they are starting to see results for themselves. . Well two of them at least. The third one is still a bit of a test. Today she was quite uncooperative, so she won't be coming out to the church class with us tomorrow. Missing out on the outing in the afternoon might just do the trick.

The senior staff here continue to work with some of the girls families. Their goal is to, where possible, re-intergrate the girls back into their community. Obviously in cases where the risk of, or acvtual exploitation has not come from the family itself .This seems to be the niche that this house is fitting in to very well, and one that is relatively new territory to tread.
Ready? Set? GO........! I did find these lights interesting, don't you?. Don't think I have seen these type, with the count down, before.

This is Hilary Ramsey, the overall Project Manager from Citipointe Church in Brisbane. She is really lovely and has made a big difference to the way I feel about my contribution here. The two girl are full time uni students that double as weekend house mums. All the full time house mums are mature women, with families of their own, so they go home two days per week.
Unbeknown to this man, I watched as he sat down, in a side street, to count the money he had hidden in his hat. Then stash the excess in his handbag. He has, what looks to me like a short white cane at his side. If my assumption is correct, the money was collected begging on the street, probably by pretending to have somesort of disability. he was perfectly healthy and could walk and see very well.... I could be very wrong though!

Yet another example of the versatility of the moto....!!!! Don't you just love them??
This man was happy to pose for me. He was selling his wares along the street near the park. I think he had dried fruit and sweet treets.

And for the guys......., the local timber sales yard..!
This is the local car ( or should I say moto) wash. There are a lot of these around. Particularly in Kampong Cham, where is is dry and the streets are very dusaty. That choking red dust!!! At least it would be one of the cooler jobs..What do you think?

The moto, for some, is a status symbol. Like a prize car in Australia.
Say hi to some of the locals.

And the local furniture shop. They also make a lot of cane or bamboo furniture, which is really quite versitile.
Well that's all for this time. I am going to Vietnam in two days (on Thursday), for a cheap, 4 day package tour. I had to leave the country and re-enter so I could get a business visa. My tourist visa had been extended once, and apparently that is the limit. So this time I will come in on a months business visa, and I can extend that for 6 to 12 months.
So please keep me in your prayers, for safety and health etc. My next blog spot will be about what I discovered in Vietnam...it should be very interesting if my itinery is anything to go buy.
Love & Blessing to you, my friends.
And a big Hi to my avid blog followers, Noel & Carol B.
